About the International Guild of Complementary Therapists

The International Guild of Complementary Therapists was created by Marion McGeough, a therapist and course provider, who has owned and run the British Academy of Reiki for nearly ten years. As well as being the owner of the Ashby Holistic Centre in Ashby De La Zouch Leicestershire, Marion is also an international best-selling author.

I originally trained as a beauty therapist many years ago and over the years I noticed that the way that many therapists learnt their skills had changed. Traditionally therapists learnt their skills by attending full time courses or courses one weekend a month or so over a period of one to four years. As time moved forward student’s expectations grew as many wished to complete courses quicker or distantly/online and there was a growth in distant learning and short courses. I create and run courses myself, so I know how many hours of effort and hard work go into creating a well-structured course.

Around this time, I began to receive an increasing number of enquiries from my students asking me to help them find other quality courses both “live” and distant learning, such as aromatherapy and reflexology. The problem that most people had was that there were so many courses available that they did not know which one to choose. A tiny seed of an idea then began to develop, this grew into the creation of the International Guild of Complementary Therapists.
